"zuhause wohnen" feat. LUCEM® basins

The november issue of "zuhause wohnen" covers furniture made of concrete, like LUCEM® basins.

New products and product refinements

Aachen/Stolberg - robatex GmbH offers something new to its customers.

DOT99® bricks are added to the DOT99®product line. DOT99® bricks consist of light conducting optical fibres and concrete. These materials are impervious to heat, cold, ultraviolet rays and atmospheric conditions. The bricks are additionally provided ex factory with a water-repellent impregnation.

DOT99® bricks are produced with arbitary fibre orientation. By using light conducting optical fibres with different diameters the impression of starlights is created. Stacked to a wall and illuminated the starlight pattern looks "all of a piece" despite the grooves between the single bricks.

DOT99® translucent concrete elements are now offered with a fixed fibre orientation in addition to the arbitary fibre orientation. This allows better prices.

LUCEM® and DOT99® products are now suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

Due to the new products and the products refinements we offer new technical datasheets of our products at www.robatex.de and www.lucem.de.

Investigation of a Testing Method for Compression Behavior of Spacer Fabrics...

Abstract: Spacer fabrics are state-of-the-art structures and have attracted more attention in recent years. They have already been used in many areas and present different advantages especially for technical applications. Recently, special spacer fabrics have been designed in order to improve the characteristics of concrete which is used, in particular, for structural reinforcement of buildings. These spacer fabrics have different characteristics compared to conventional textiles due to their special structure. Therefore, characterization of these structures with existing methods is not possible. Compression resistance of spacer fabrics provided by spacer yarns in the structure is one of their main characteristics. However, compression behavior of spacer fabrics has not been investigated in detail to date.

In this work, a testing method for the characterization of spacer fabrics used in concrete applications on the basis of their compression behavior has been investigated and defined.

LUCEM® & DOT99® in the new book Raumproben2

robatex GmbH is proud to be presented with its products LUCEM & DOT99 in the well known material guide for architecture & design. Some quotation from the book (in german):

A Study on the Compression Behavior of Spacer Fabrics...

Erschienen in: Artikel in Fibers and Polymers 2009, Vol. 10, No. 1 (Seite 116ff) vom 19.03.2009

Abstract: Spacer fabrics have been used in many areas varying from medical applications to protection applications. Especially the three dimensional characteristic of spacer fabrics presents different opportunities for special applications. The compression resistant characteristic of spacer fabrics is one of their main properties. In this research the compression behaviour of spacer fabrics designed for concrete applications has been investigated. The effects of some parameters such as spacer yarn material, pattern and threading on the compression behaviour of spacer fabrics have been studied. According to the test results it was found that the material, pattern and the threading of spacer yarns are important parameters for the compression characteristics of spacer fabrics. It was also observed that the location angle of spacer yarn and the amount of the spacer yarns influence the compression behaviour of spacer fabrics.
